Great Weekend!

Got to spend most of the weekend working on the scout. Pulled it into the car port and went to it!

It was a gross weekend though. 86% humidity. Rain. Uggg...

I was able to pull the heater box. Got it torn apart along with the vent inside the cab. I cleaned up some of it but still need to blast it. I found out the heater box was grey. Dark grey. I plan to order a powder gun from Eastwoods. Want to powder the box and the vent. That will look awesome! I think i will get a quart of the original paint and start repainting the inside of the engine box as I go.

I pulled a couple of circut boxes. Painted them as well. They look great!

I also pulled the drivers seat and got the floor board all fixed up! I found the drain plug under the seat and popped that. Had to jack the front up so it would drain. I used some rust gel on it. Wahsed it down good with Simple Green. Then followed with metal wash. Then used Eastwoods Rust Encasulator. That will be a good base. I want to follow up with bed liner. That should get it. Then have to do the passenger side.

I found the fastners I need for the windows on e-bay. Hope I can win them!

A Little Here and Little There

Spent a good deal of time on the scout this weekend. Was able to adust the carb so its not missing as bad now. Tried to move the distributor so we could adust the timing but it wont budge. Sprayed it down good with blaster and will try again next weekend.

I did some sanding on the floor boards. They look better. I bought a sandblasting gun from HD this weekend. Will use the neighbors compressor next weekend and see if we can blast them clean. I have to patch some very small holes in the front part of the floor seem. Think I will use some metal filler. Would like to try some solder but think just filler will work.

Fixed the windows this weekend too. Lubed the drivers side up with grease and blaster. I had to put the passenger side back together. It had broken but was fixable. Need to find the grommets for the window lifters. Those will be a trick. But at least it works!

Also used some Turtle Wax rubbing compound and polish on it. Wow, really looks good. Need to wax it now. Still gots its "charterer" but it looks so much better. Got the hood and one side done. Finish the other side and rear next weekend I hope.

I took her up to the car wash and sprayed out the engine too. Looks better but will need some painting.

All good so far! Lots to do!

Lots of Research

Not much has happened other than lots of reading! So much to digest. I am putting together a working list of what needs to be done. It changes everyday. But here are the items that i feel are most important:

1. Replace exhast - really is bad. Sounds good! But leaks. Thinking I will stick with a single exhast. Haven't picked one out yet but will take any suggestions!
2. Fix the floor pans - they are rusted with just a couple of corner spots that need to be patched. Will use some solder. Then strip the floor with Eastwood products. I will use their Rust Encapsulator and then coat with bedliner. Need to get that done as the door seals leak bad...
3. Fix the door seals.
4. Fix the cylinders that are missing - hope to do that this weekend!

See how I get through these!
